Who Am I?

Let us go for the facts first…

  • I’m in my 40s, living in West Devon, right on the moors -where nature is a huge part of my life. I’ve run my book business since 2014!
  • I am neurodivergent, I have a neurodivergent family – for this reason two of my three children are home educated. Endless piles of books come in VERY handy here!
  • I am visually impaired – I have a degenerative condition and so I work my business solely online. A visually impaired bookseller may sound a little unique – but I understand the magic of words, the power of stories. They are of massive importance in my life and so a book business always made perfect sense to me!

Now I’ll fill that out a little.

I built this business simply as a way to be at home with my children. My husband, Andy, and I had been working opposite shifts to manage childcare, and I wanted a way to bring in an income without sacrificing precious time together. What started as a practical decision quickly became something much bigger.

As my sight changed and I became more open and understanding of my neurodivergence, I realised that this wasn’t a business that just worked around my life – it was a business that worked for my life. It gave me the flexibility to home educate, to adapt my work to my strengths, and to build something in a way that felt right for me. And now, I help others do the same.

Because I believe, absolutely, that opportunities should exist for everyone.

Too often, I see intelligent, driven, creative people—especially women—who feel limited by their circumstances. They need to home educate, work around school runs, manage fluctuating energy levels, or choose a work environment that actually works for them. That shouldn’t mean opportunities are hard to come by.

I believe that real success comes when you have the freedom to choose how, when, and where you work.
